Biography


Nabeela Al Khayer is a contemporary Bahraini artist from Manama, celebrated for her strong advocacy of women’s rights. A graduate of London’s Slade School of Fine Art, she enhanced her craft through workshops in Paris and Geneva. Her work has appeared in group exhibitions around the world, including recent showcases in London, Singapore, and Paris during the Art Bahrain Across Borders (Art BAB) international weeks. Since earning the Silver Leaf Award in 2003, she has held solo exhibitions across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Her pieces are part of national museum collections in Bahrain and Jordan.

Al Khayer’s art centers on women’s empowerment. Her collections depict women from diverse cultures and backgrounds, blending vibrant colors, bold contrasts, and dynamic forms. She often incorporates regional motifs and calligraphy—ranging from full texts to fragments—adding lyrical and nostalgic dimensions. Her portraits balance realism and abstraction, capturing women’s emotions and daily lives through varying techniques and materials.

Nature also plays a key role in her work, particularly in recent series inspired by water’s beauty and power. Through expressive textures and vivid palettes, she evokes the emotional and spiritual depth of natural elements.
